YOUTH OF THE YEAR
Omar
Oregon State Youth of the Year 2022, member of BGCWTV.
Omar started attending the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Western Treasure Valley as a kindergartener the very first day they opened their doors in 2009. As he grew up, Omar said that his dream was to be a staff member at the Club. That dream came true in 2018 when he got a job in the Nutrition Department and later became a Youth Development Professional. Through encouragement from the staff, Omar went on to compete and win Oregon State Youth of the Year for 2022. He was the very first YOY winner this Club had ever had. Shortly after winning the Oregon title, Omar graduated high school and is now attending Western Oregon University where he is studying social work. In his words, “I knew had a great future ahead of me because that’s how the Club raised me”.
